from Brian...

Over the last six years the voters in the 27th Congressional district provided me with the opportunity to represent your best interests in Washington, DC. As your voice in Washington, I recognize that for Western New York to move forward and grow we need to partner together and stand up for what is best for this community.

During this short time we stood up to the New York Power Authority and delivered $279 million dollars for waterfront development, we stood up for our fair share of federal investment delivering millions for public safety an transportation improvements in Erie and Chautauqua Counties, and we stood up to the New York State Thruway Authority and eliminated unfair tolls along the I-190. Together we worked hard, yet there is still much more to be done.

The tide is turning but this is just the beginning. Western New York's future is limitless, but we need leadership that continues to push through the barriers that have led this community to too many years of inertia and inaction.

Thank you for taking the time to visit the Higgins for Congress website. With your support I will continue to fight the bureaucracy and develop real momentum on the issues important to Western New Yorkers.

Four for the House

27th District: Brian Higgins

Brian Higgins, a Democrat, has served the Buffalo area tirelessly for many years, first as a member of the New York Assembly and, for the last four years, in the U. S. House. His voice isn’t heard that much on national issues, as he concentrates on local matters such as waterfront restoration, the area’s transportation needs and the Peace Bridge project.

But Higgins is vitally important on those local needs, and he is on the right side of the big issues. He is tired of the United States being played by all sides in the Iraq conflict and upset by what the conduct of the war on terror has done to American values. He favors reasonable regulation for the shattered financial markets and will not be a vote to continue the ruinous Bush tax cuts.

Higgins merits re-election.
