Higgins Applauds News that DOT will Scrap New Street Sign Requirements

8/30/2011- Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-27) welcomed news that the Administration plans to lift mandates previously issued by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) which would have required local municipalities to pay for costly changes to street and traffic signs.

People Inc. Receives Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency

8/29/2011- People Inc. is pleased to announce a grant that was recently awarded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) of $46,000. The FEMA grant will be used to purchase carbon monoxide detectors and heat and smoke sensors for the agency’s group homes. People Inc.

Western New York Reps. Announce Nearly Half a Million Dollars in Funding to the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority

8/26/2011- Today, Western New York Representatives Kathy Hochul (NY-26), Brian Higgins (NY-27) and Louise Slaughter (NY-28) announced that the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) has received a Transit Security Grant of $455,766.

West Side Neighborhood Housing Services Awarded $280,000 Affordable Housing Grant to Rehab and ‘Green’ Local Properties

8/26/2011- Today West Side Neighborhood Housing Services announced that it was awarded a $280,000 affordable housing grant to help low- and moderate-income homeowners make needed, energy-efficient repairs to their homes.

8/19/2011- Western New York Congressmembers Brian Higgins (NY-27), Louise Slaughter (NY-28) and Kathy Hochul (NY-26) sent a letter to the Office of Management and Budget asking the agency to expedite their timeline for rulemaking associated with pilot fatigue.

Restoration Efforts Near Complete on Historic Buffalo Lighthouse

8/18/2011- Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-27), members of the Buffalo Lighthouse Association and leaders from the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation joined together at the historic Buffalo Lighthouse to mark the finish of restoration efforts on the 178 year old structure.
